It has been a busy summer on many summer courses. including a very successful Wind Chamber music course at Longcommon, for which I owe huge thanks to the Melville Family for hosting, Anna Hashimoto for an inspiring masterclass and Daniel King Smith for his always sensitive piano playing. (I will next be working with Dan on 25th November in our recital at the Wiltshire Music Centre – see post below.)
After that I had a wonderful week with the National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain, coaching on their under 11s course at Port Regis School in Dorset.
I am now deep in preparation for the Roman River Festival. This year I am running an exciting education project based on the Lark Ascending, culminating in an orchestrated performance at the festival finale on Sunday 4th October.
On Sept 14-15th I will be conducting Beethoven Symphony No.5 and Weber Clarinet Concerto no.1 with Melissa Youngs as Soloist at the City Lit Orchestral Workshop
