Autumn 2017 Update

Hello, after another busy Summer, including our annual wind music course at Longcommon, Autumn is here and I am looking forward to events coming up:

Benslow Music Quintessential clarinets -Nov 27th – 30th – this time with the wonderful Daniel King Smith on Piano – do sign up if you can as spaces are limited.

I have just been offered the post of clarinet teacher at Channing School in Highgate , London, which I am looking forward to starting in late October.


I am very much looking forward to hearing SCAW play my new work for Bass clarinet and Piano in Sheffield in October, if you can make it along to what will be the official world premiere it would be great to hear from you.

March 13th,Watershed Studio – first of my one day clarinet courses, a mixture of solo tuition, and small ensemble work, with a great cooked lunch included. more details on

two other dates at Watershed 10th July 2017, another clarinet workshop

13th Nov 2017, choir/singing workshop.

April 4th -5th city lit orchestra, Bruch Violin Concerto, and a new work by me.

8th-11th May Quintessential clarinets course Benslow Music.

Other News

I have been commissioned by Andrew Hunt for the second time. This time to write a work for wind quintet and bass clarinet, which will receive it’s premiere on 6th May in London.

Also, I have just finished a book of 6 setting of traditional Christmas Carols entitiled

Autumn 2016 Update

I thought It was about time for an update; A busy summer involved coaching on NCO Main Orchestra at Rossall School in Lancashire, with a fantastic final concert in Preston Guildhall.

This was followed by my own Wind Chamber Music Course in Longcommon, Surrey, where we had two concerts and a resident string quartet for two days, coached by Hilary Sturt, and a great masterclass with Chris Richards from the LSO. We had 17 clarinettists on the course, all generously hosted by the Melville family.

Summer News

I am excited to announce that I have finished my new work commissioned by Andrew Hunt for Bass clarinet and Piano, Dedham Vale. This will have its official launch next year at a concert played by Sarah Watts. Watch this space.

I have also have lots of performances with UNIT coming up this month, do check out for more information.

Spring 2016 News

I am pleased to say that all of my compositions (including my soon to be published new work for Bass clarinet and Piano) are available to buy through this website.

Have a look at the list of works and see if anything takes your fancy. all chamber and solo works are only £10 plus postage.

My Orchestral and larger scale works are also available to buy, but better to ask me about those individually if you are interested.


Next recitals – May 4th, 1pm, Lion Walk Church, Colchester.

January Update

Happy new year everyone!

Here are some new events to tell you about for 2016.

Firstly, February 8th – 11th Benslow Music.

Intermediate Orchestra – I will be conducting Weber Clarinet Concerto No.1, Haydn Symphony no.104 and Faure’s Pavanne. places still available for string players. see


City Lit Orchestra 7th – 8th April – I will be conducting Beethoven Symphony no.8 and Ah Perfido. see for more information.


City Lit Clarinet Choir 6th April 6.30-9.30. A one off clarinet choir session open to anyone. at city lit,  Keeley Street, Covent Garden. see for more information.


May 9th- 13th Benslow Quintessential Clarinets. I will be coaching clarinettists on solo clarinet and piano repertoire. for more.


May 28th-29th Clarinet Playing Weekend, Watershed studio, St Osyth, Essex. come and play in a clarinet ensemble in lovely surroundings and ending with an informal 4pm concert on Sunday 29th. contact Anthony on 07930 410740 or for more information.


I am also excited to have been commissioned to write a new work for Bass Clarinet and Piano by Andrew Hunt. The new work will be ready later in the year.
