Autumn 2025

I have just finished conducting the British Clarinet Ensemble on their forthcoming CD release entitled Momento. This is in memory of my friend and mentor Charles Hine, and features music commissioned by him and the group over the last 10 years. On the same album, I have created and recorded a new arrangement of Finzi’s Five Bagatelles for clarinet and ensemble. The solo part was performed by Anna Hashimoto. The other works on the CD include Momento and Jumbo by Andy Scott, Three Haiku by Jeffery Wilson, and The Darkling Serenade by Stephen McNeff. Other works on the CD include Divertissement by Geraldine Green, and Helter Skelter by Lyne Plowman.

I will keep you posted in line for when it releases, and for now, keep an eye out!

Summer 2024

I am delighted to announce that I am about to start a new position at Wellington College. I have been made Assistant Director of Music (Head of Performance.)

Spring 2024

Happy New Year!

A very sad start to the year. My friend and mentor, Charles Hine passed away on the 1st of January. He will be much missed by many people, but I owe a lot to his generosity and guidance in my early career.

He was the conductor of the BCE while I was leader, and now we hope to record a new CD of works he commissioned this year. I will keep you posted.

I am delighted to be conducting them at the ICA clarinet convention in Dublin in the summer. We will be performing on the Gala opening evening, where we will be accompanying a host of star clarinettists, and we will also perform in our own slot later in the week.

February 2021

I thought it was about time I sent you an update!

Over the Autumn, I ran an online Longcommon Chamber Music Course, with a clarinet Masterclass with Maximiliano Martin. We all had a lot of fun, and made a lovely online concert for the end of the course.

I also spent some time with the Bass Club of Great Britain Virtual Junior Course, which was run by Caroline Emery.

I had been asked to write a little piece, and I am delighted to share the results here.

this is a link to the recordings that I put together from the participants recordings.

I hope you enjoy them!
